ETODOLAC 300 mg CAPSULES
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ECCOXOLAC 300 mg CAPSULES.
Your medicine is called Eccoxolac 300 mg Capsules which belong to a class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Eccoxolac 300 mg Capsules are grey/red containing 300 mg Etodolac as active ingredient The capsules also contain inactive ingredients lactose, colloidal anhydrous silica, sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium starch glycallate, povidone, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose and talc. The gelatin capsules are coloured with E110, E129, E171 and E172. The black ink contains shellac, iron oxide black (E172), IMS 74 OP, n-butyl alcohol, soya lecithin MC thin and antifoam DC 1510.
Eccoxolac 300 mg Capsules are available as blister strips of 10 or 15 capsules each in boxes of 60 capsules.

WHAT ARE ECCOXOLAC 300 mg CAPSULES USED FOR ?
Eccoxolac 300 mg Capsules are used to relieve some symptoms caused by arthritis (Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis) such as inflammation, swelling, stiffness and joint pain.
BEFORE TAKING YOUR MEDICINE
Use is not recommended in children, however your doctor may choose to use it if other medicines cannot be used.
You should know that gastrointestinal problems can occur in some individuals at any time following long-term treatment with this class of medicines (NSAIDs). If you notice any signs of gastrointestinal bleeding (rectal bleeding, passage of black stools, vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds, severe abdominal or stomach pain), be sure to stop your medicine and consult your doctor immediately.
Ask yourself the following questions:
• Have you ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to etodolac or any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs including aspirin?
• Are you pregnant or breast-feeding?
• Do you have any kidney or liver disease?
• Do you have active peptic ulceration or a history of peptic ulcer disease (including gastrointestinal haemorrhage)?
• Do you have any bleeding disorder?
• Do you have high blood pressure or diabetes7
• Have you ever been diagnosed to have bronchial asthma7
• Have you ever been diagnosed to have a condition called congestive heart failure?
• Are you taking any other medicines especially warfarin, cyclosporin, digoxin, lithium, mifepristone, anti-hypertensives (medicines used to treat high blood pressure), other analgesics (pain-relievers), quinolone class of antibiotics, corticosteroids or methotrexate?
If you answer YES to any of these questions, or you are not sure talk to your Doctor or Pharmacist before taking etodolac.
WHEN AND HOW TO TAKE ECCOXOLAC 300 mg CAPSULES
Eccoxolac 300 mg Capsules should be taken as directed by your Doctor. For safe and effective use, do not take more of it, do not take it more often and do not take it for a longer time than prescribed by your doctor. Take your medicine with a full glass of water.
The usual adult dose is: One 300 mg capsule twice a day. Alternatively, two 300 mg capsules may be taken once a day.
A lower dose may be recommended in elderly patients or in patients with disease affecting the kidneys).
Use and Dose in Children must be determined by your Doctor.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Medicines such as Eccoxolac may be associated with a small increased risk of heart attack (“myocardial infarction”) or stroke. Any risk is more likely with high doses and prolonged treatment. Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration of treatment. If you ever take too many capsules, go to the nearest hospital casualty department .taking the medicine with you, or teil your Doctor immediately.
if you have heart problems, previous stroke or think that you might be at risk of these conditions (for example if you have high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol or are a smoker) you should discuss your treatment with your doctor or pharmacist.
WHILE TAKING YOUR MEDICINE
If you are taking Eccoxolac 300 mg Capsules for a long time, your Doctor should check you regularly.
If you are told you need a blood test or urine test, tell your doctor you are taking this medicine first
Do not take any other medicine (including non-prescription medicines) without first checking with your doctor.
Since this medicine can cause dizziness, drowsiness or visual disturbances in some individuals, you should be aware of how you react to this medicine before driving or operating machines.
Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Medicines such as Eccoxolac may be associated with a small increased risk of heart attack (“myocardial infarction”) or stroke.
If you experience any of the following side effects after taking these capsules, stop taking them and tell your Doctor at once:
Fainting, irregular or troubled breathing, irregular or pounding heartbeat, severe abdominal or stomach cramps or pain, severe diarrhoea, rectal bleeding, passage of black stools, chills and fever, heartburn, mouth sores, skin rash or raised skin areas with severe itching, other skin problems such as nodules, ulcerations or blisters; vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds, unexplained bleeding from the nose, unusual bleeding or bruising, frequent infections, blurred vision, confusion, ringing or buzzing in ears, skin pallor, swelling of lips or tongue or eyelids, yellowing of eyes or skin, dark discolouration of urine, bloody or cloudy urine or any problem with urination such as difficult, burning or painful urination, increased frequency of urination, sudden large increase or decrease in the amount of urine.
Other side effects that may occur that usually do not need medical attention unless these continue or are bothersome:
Mild diarrhoea, nausea or vomiting, headache, indigestion, constipation, bloated feeling or feeling of fullness, dizziness, drowsiness or lightheadedness, trouble in sleeping, sensation of numbness or tingling over the limbs, tremors, skin reactions such as redness or blisters on exposure to sunlight, weakness, fatigue, severe itching, mental depression and nervousness.
Stomach problems may be more likely to occur if you drink alcoholic beverages while being treated with this medicine.
If you notice any other undesirable effect, check with your Doctor or Pharmacist.
STORING YOUR MEDICINE
Keep your capsules in the original pack.
KEEP OUT OF THE REACH AND SIGHT OF CHILDREN.
Do not take Eccoxolac 300 mg Capsules after the expiry date on the carton.
If your Doctor tells you to stop taking the capsules, please return them to the Pharmacist; only keep them if your Doctor tells you to,
