FAQ

A prescription is required to buy metoclopramide from local pharmacies in Canada. Our store policy allows you to order these 10 mg metoclopramide tablets without a prescription and have them sent by mail.

Take unused or expired metoclopramide tablets to a pharmacy or authorized medicine take-back program when available. Do not keep leftover tablets for a future illness or give them to another person.

Inactive ingredients can differ between manufacturers and may not be the same as those in brand-name Reglan. The exact excipients for the supplied tablets should be checked on the received package or product leaflet, especially if lactose, dyes, gluten, or another ingredient must be avoided.

During pregnancy, metoclopramide should be used only after a prescriber has weighed the expected benefit against potential risks; use near delivery may affect the newborn. Metoclopramide passes into breast milk, so breastfeeding and treatment also require an individual discussion with a healthcare professional.

Common side effects include drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, headache, restlessness, and diarrhoea. Seek prompt medical attention for involuntary movements, muscle stiffness or spasms, marked agitation, fever with rigidity, or unusual facial or tongue movements; metoclopramide can cause serious movement disorders, including tardive dyskinesia.

Description

MetoclopramideReglan (Metoclopramide): What Is It?

Reglan, whose generic name is metoclopramide, is a member of the prokinetics drug class. It encourages food to pass through the digestive system by tightening the muscles of the stomach and intestines. Reglan is a medication that is commonly recommended to treat gastrointestinal disorders, including but not limited to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), diabetic gastroparesis, and chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.

Reglan contains metoclopramide hydrochloride as its active component. If you have concerns about particular ingredients, speak with your healthcare professional before taking the medicine.

How to Use

Typically, Reglan is given orally, with or without food. Pay close attention to what your healthcare provider tells you, and never take more than the recommended amount. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember unless the next planned dose is almost here. If so, omit the missing dose and stick to your usual dosing regimen.

Interactions

You must tell your healthcare provider all of the drugs, herbal items, and supplements you are currently using. Drugs that alter dopamine levels, antipsychotics, and opioids are among the medications that may interact with Reglan. These combinations may raise the possibility of side effects or affect how effective Reglan is.

Adverse Reactions

Reglan is generally well tolerated. However, it's important to be aware of any possible adverse effects. Nausea, restlessness, and drowsiness are typical adverse effects. However, more serious adverse effects could happen, like involuntary movements, tight muscles, and emotional or mental changes. When you notice any unsettling side effects, contact your healthcare professional.

Overdose

In the unlikely chance that you overdose, get help right away. Confusion, convulsions, or loss of consciousness are possible symptoms. Remember to take your medication as directed; never change your dosage without first talking to your doctor.

Storage

Reglan should be kept at room temperature and away from moisture and light. Make sure that pets and children cannot get it. Keep it out of the bathroom. The drug will continue to be safe to use and effective if stored properly.

Customer questions

Asked by Megan Campbell, Whitehorse, Canada

I live outside Whitehorse and deliveries can be limited on my route. How can I find out whether you can ship these metoclopramide tablets to my address?

Answered by Support team

Enter your complete delivery address during checkout to check whether shipping is available for your location. Availability for remote routes can vary, so it cannot be confirmed for every address in advance.

Asked by Étienne Bouchard, Trois-Rivieres, Canada

I'm in Trois-Rivières. Can I use my postal code to check whether metoclopramide can be shipped to me before I place the order?

Answered by Support team

Use your full address, including your postal code, at checkout to check shipping availability for Trois-Rivières. Destination-specific availability must be confirmed for the address entered.

Asked by Priya Shah, Saskatoon, Canada

My new metoclopramide tablets look different from the ones in my last order. What should I compare before taking them?

Answered by Support team

A different appearance alone does not mean the tablets are wrong. Compare the active ingredient, 10 mg strength, tablet dosage form, manufacturer, package label, lot number, expiry date, and tablet imprint when present; do not use them until any mismatch or damaged packaging has been checked.

Asked by Daniel McLeod, Guelph, Canada

I have reduced kidney function and was prescribed metoclopramide for nausea. Does kidney disease affect how these 10 mg tablets are used?

Answered by Support team
Medical reviewed by Lynette Ellis

Yes. Metoclopramide is cleared partly through the kidneys, and impaired kidney function can increase exposure and the risk of adverse effects, so a lower dose or different schedule may be needed. The prescriber should determine the appropriate regimen based on kidney function and the reason for treatment.
